Perth

I've been sitting on this piece of writing for a very long time...so much so, I don really remember everything very clearly...but these are the words I wrote down when I came back from Australia last year...enjoy! ^-^

Now onto my memories of Perth: Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!

“The best life is led horizontal" - Chris Fey
That's a slogan I saw on a huge billboard when I visited Perth.

My two aunts and I plus my elder aunt's friend left for Perth on the 14th of July.
Walking out of Perth International Airport is one of the few vivid memories I have of Australia. The moment one steps out of the place, winter wind assails the lungs and your slapped alive or awake by the freshness of the air. I love the air over there. So clean and non-wet unlike humid countries.
The clouds are like those of any Simpsons episode...you can literally hear the opening music of the cartoon as you drive along the roads.
One thing I look forward to seeing when I go overseas is the stars coz you can't see much on mainland Singapore due to the bright lights everywhere. Unfortunately, due to the rain, most of the time I could not see the stars at night. :(

My notebook of my experience there is filled with lots of bullet points to describe how I felt at a particular time, coz I know I am long winded...he...

Basically, we went to various shopping malls everyday and bought so much stuff that we had to get cardboard boxes to keep them in coz our suit cases where not big enough to contain everything.
I bought clothes....ran into Esther, who is studying there at the moment...played the role of being a porter for my aunts' sake... watched lots of TV...fell sick...watched the All Blacks trash the Aussie team ^-^...met up with my aunt's friends who are now living in Perth...ate alot of Chinese food...visited UWA (University of Western Australia)...did lots of walking...spoke lots of teochew and chinese...did not get enough sleep...

Stepping into a soap opera.
That's just how I feel when I go to Ang Mor countries for holidays. The sensation is not very acute when I visit Australia. Maybe because I’ve been there so many times...but it was rather surreal when I visited America a few years back. I have a feeling I feel that way because of all the television programmes we get in Singapore. Most of them come from America or Canada ya? Hence the concept of literally stepping into one of the shows u usually watch on the tube. Why? Because everyone there (other than the people you travel with) speaks with that yanky-doodle-ya-ya tongue. I must say it took some getting used to when I was there...but by the time I got myself accustomed to the sounds...I had to fly home for Christmas... ha-ha.

What is it about Singapore that makes it so different from other countries?
The government?
The races?
The attitudes of the people?
The education which students receive?
The food?
The housing?
Water?
Weather?
Sex?
Sizes?
Architecture?
Geography?
Language?
Transport?
Television programmes?
Sports?
Literature?
Animals?
Brains?
Lighting?
Shopping?
Currency?
History?
What?
Anyone got any ideas on that?

Ok...I got to that point and hit writer's block...so that's all I wrote in the end... hopefully I will get to go to Australia again and bring back more memories :D so now i ask: When? Which part? Anyone wanna join me?
